6/8 ~ AIDS Council in Albany

1995 USAIDS 5,000
Post #9:
Our final task in Albany was to meet with Richard Joseph, Exec. Director of AIDS Council of Northeastern NY, and to tour their modest facility. Advocating for PLWAs (Persons Living With AIDS), providing some direct assistance and conducting HIV prevention and training were most important to AIDS Council; therefore funding was always a top priority, too, to make services possible. (Each picture has more details.)

This TV interview with Richard Joseph of AIDS Council of Northeastern NY, was conducted on the steps of another building, near Assembly Chambers. Carl Lebman and I were hoping to meet some clients, including PLWAs, but privacy was always an issue. At best, we could do public corporate and citizen challenges in support of the agencies we wanted to help. I also want to believe that we put them back in the news, at least for a day. This Newletter for AIDS Council of Northeastern NY was published in July of 1995. The picture of me in it was taken in front of the agency facility. Carl Lebman and I did get a chance to tour the facility, and talk in depth with Richard Joseph, the Exec. Director; yet we were unable to meet clients. We hope that would change when visiting other places, but for now, we were able to promote the work being done by AIDS Council. (Picture from June 6, 1995 and picture of article from July, 1995)
